Frequently Asked Questions
Can't find what you need? Reach out to the district office or check the Schools page for contacts.
HR & Payroll
How do I clock in and out?
Use the TCP Time Clock web clock. If your time needs a correction, contact your school office or the business office.
Where do I see my pay stubs and payroll info?
Log into the Employee Service Portal. Tyler Employee Access is also available through Okta.
How do I request leave?
Talk with your principal first, then submit the appropriate form from the Forms page — Sick Bank Leave Request for sick bank, or Parental Leave Notice for postpartum/parental leave.
How do I get reimbursed for something I bought?
Submit a Claim Voucher / Reimbursement Request with your receipts attached. For travel, use the Travel Expense Reimbursement form within 30 days of returning (Policy CKB).
Who do I contact about health, dental, or retirement benefits?
Benefits enrollment is in Benefit Solver. Health coverage is through PEHP, dental through TDA, and retirement through URS. For questions, contact the district office.
How do I apply to transfer to another position?
When a vacancy is posted, submit the Request for Transfer form — signed by your principal, with a letter or resume — to Personnel within five school days of the posting (Policy DADA).
New Teachers
What accounts do I need to get started?
You will use five main systems: district Gmail, Aspire (gradebook/attendance), Canvas (LMS), TCP Time Clock (timekeeping), and the Employee Service Portal (payroll). All are linked from the home page. If any account is missing, contact the district office.
Where do I find the standards and pacing guides?
The Pacing page has the district K-6 Math & ELA pacing guide, mapped to the 2026-27 calendar and RISE testing windows. The Standards Reference has every Utah Core Standard by grade and subject.
Will I have a mentor?
New educators on LEA-specific licenses are assigned a trained mentor teacher who holds three coaching meetings per year (Policy DAB-L). Ask your principal who your mentor is.
How do I buy supplies for my classroom?
Ask your principal about your budget first. Purchases go through the Purchase Order / Check Request form — small purchases need your and your supervisor's signatures; larger ones need quotes and the Business Administrator's approval (Policy CBE). If you already paid out of pocket, use the reimbursement form instead.
What are my testing responsibilities?
Check the Testing page for this year's RISE, Acadience, and WIDA windows. Your school's testing coordinator (listed on the Schools page) will schedule your classes and provide training.
Where do I find district policies?
The policy database is always current and searchable. Start with the staff handbook topics on the Policies page.
Who can help me apply for my first license, renew an existing one, or add an endorsement?
Start with the USBE Licensing page — it covers first-time licenses, renewals, and endorsements. For district-side questions, contact Human Resources at the district office.
I forgot my CACTUS ID number — where can I find it?
Look it up in USIMS, USBE's educator licensing system.
Tech Help
How do I log into Canvas?
Go to gsd.instructure.com and sign in. If your login does not work, contact your school's tech support.
How do I take attendance and enter grades?
Both happen in Aspire, the district student information system.
I forgot my password — how do I reset it?
Contact your school office or district IT to reset your district Google account password. Most other systems (Canvas, Aspire) use separate logins — use their "forgot password" links or ask IT.
Something is broken (projector, printer, computer). Who do I tell?
Report it to your school office or submit a maintenance/IT ticket if your school uses one. For urgent classroom tech issues during instruction, ask a neighboring teacher or the office to call IT directly.
What online trainings am I required to complete?
Required annual trainings are assigned in Vector Solutions (SafeSchools). Your principal will let you know which modules apply to you. Employees who drive for the district also complete the defensive driving course through the Utah Risk Pool.
Who can help me set up my gradebook?
Your school's instructional coach can help you set up your Aspire gradebook.
